Youth Conclave

THE CONCLAVE WILL FOCUS ON 5 PARAMETERS VISIONED BY THE UNITED NATION’S AGENDA 2030’:

  • PEOPLE: To ensure that all human beings can fulfil their potential in dignity and equality and in a healthy environment.
  • PLANET: To protect the planet from degradation, including through sustainable consumption and production, sustainably managing its natural resources and taking urgent action on climate change, so that it can support the needs of the present and future generations.
  • PROSPERITY: To ensure that all human beings can enjoy prosperous and fulfilling lives and that economic, social and technological progress occurs in harmony with nature.
  • PEACE: To foster peaceful, just and inclusive societies which are free from fear and violence.
  • PARTNERSHIP: To mobilize partnership with diverse stakeholders to achieve the larger vision.
  • A wide range of thematic areas would be covered during this dialogue including peace, gender, community engagement, personal development, Indian culture, arts, sports and education.
  • To make this dialogue impactful we are inviting facilitators comprised of resource personnel from diverse fields including international athletes, global tech giants, private sector leaders, public officials, education reformists, media influencers and peace builders.

GOAL

  • To provide a platform to foster learning and the development of future leaders.
  • To support youth changemakers to identify access points around them to new knowledge, resources, professional expertise, support systems and new technologies.
  • To build a dialogue between young changemakers and expert guest speakers for New India 2030.

PROGRAM SCHEME

  • EXPERT TALKS - The conclave will have renowned global experts talk on various subjects from the fields of economy, science, policy, education, social change, entrepreneurship, innovation, rural development etc.
  • PANEL DISCUSSIONS - Panel discussion will be one of the highlights of the conclave that will see different viewpoints of experts discussing on the theme ‘India for the world 2030’.
  • WORKSHOPS - To make the conclave more engaging we plan to organize practical workshop on the said subjects.
  • CULINARY DIPLOMACY AND NETWORKING SESSION - Its rightly said that ‘Sharing a plate of food leads to more successful conversation’. On the first day of the conclave a dinner diplomacy will be organized for both youth delegates and honorable guests for more meaningful discussions.

CHAIRPERSON

RAJ LOOMBA

Baron Loomba, Member of House of Lords of the United Kingdom
Rajinder Paul Loomba, Baron Loomba, is a philanthropist, founder and executive chairman of clothing company Loomba Group, and a member of the House of Lords. Mr. Loomba built up his fashion business from scratch, graduating from a stall at Widnes market to a shop, a wholesale business and then an import company, Rinku Group Ltd. Mr. Loomba is a member of the Rotary Club in London, the Institute of Directors and is a Freeman of the City of London. He is Chairman of the Friends of the Three Faiths Forum, is Patron of Children In Need India, and is the Founding Patron of the World Punjabi Organisation. He is Vice President of Barnardo’s and of the Safer London Foundation, a charity backed by the Metropolitan Police. In 1997 he was named Asian of the Year UK by Asian Who’s Who International.
Mr. Loomba set up his charity, The Loomba Foundation, which works to raise awareness of the issue of widowhood and which raises funds to educate the children of poor widows in India and empower widows in other developing countries in south Asia and across Africa. Following a sustained campaign, on 21 December 2010 the United Nations General Assembly formally recognised, by unanimous acclaim, 23 June as International Widows Day.

In recognition of his contribution to charity, in the 2008 Birthday Honours Loomba was appointed a Commander of the Order of the British Empire (CBE); he received his award from Prince Charles at a ceremony at Buckingham Palace.

DR SHRI DNYANESHWAR MULAY, Hon Member, NHRC

Dnyaneshwar Mulay, an Indian Career Diplomat who superannuated after 35 years of service, was appointed by the President of India as the Member, National Human Rights Commission in April 2019.
He joined the Indian Foreign Service in 1983 and has since served in several capacities, including the Consul General of India, New York, and the High Commissioner of India, Male, Maldives. He is a successful writer and has written over 15 books, which have been translated in Arabic, Dhivehi, Urdu, Kannada and Hindi. His magnum-opus – Maati, Pankh ani Akash, written in Marathi, has received immense popularity and has also been prescribed in the Arts curriculum at the North Maharasthra University, Jalgaon (Maharashtra). He has inspired a number of socio-educational projects including Balodyan, an orphanage in his native village, and the Dnyaneshwar Mulay Education Society, which seeks to introduce innovative concepts like Global Education

Prof. Karmalkar, a former head of Department of Environmental Science and Department of Geology is a well-known scientist in the field of Igneous Petrology. With more than 25 years of teaching and more than 30 research publications in various national and international journals, he is actively involved in academics and research along with constantly guiding various facets of academia being a part of Member of Board of Studies & Research and Recognition committees for Geology and Environmental Science.

AMIT WAIKAR - MD South East Asia, Thailand

Mr. Amit Waikar is a leadership professional in with + 20 years experience in Sales, Business development, Market setup and Account Management. In depth experience of selling, promoting and marketing flavors, fragrances and beverage ingredients to customers/key accounts in Europe, Indian subcontinent, South Asia, China and Australia-New Zealand. A seasoned manager, been responsible he has been responsible for setting up legal entities in markets like Indonesia, Thailand, managing P&L and of recruiting team members in these regions. He is a recipient of the Prestigious Pravasi Bharatiya Samman Award (PBSA) at the hands of Hon. President of India in 2019.

PRAKASH M. HEDA - Orthopaedic Surgeon, Nairobi, Kenya

Dr Heda, Prakash, is a healthcare practitioner, specialising as an Orthopedic Surgeon, in Nairobi Central, Nairobi, Nairobi, Kenya. Coming from a humble background and being a farmer’s son, born at Wardha [Maharashtra], Dr. Heda was instilled with a culture of giving and community care at very early age. The quest for education and ambition spring boarded him at every step from the village to a small town, Nagpur where he received his first degree in medicine MBBS and ultimately to the commercial capital of India, Mumbai, the capital state of Maharashtra, after receiving his Master’s degree in Orthopedics and a couple of fellowships from both India and the western world, life presented him international opportunities .His univocal choice was Africa ,staying true to the culture of serving the community in a developing environment as opposed to a profit focused developed world.

DR. LAL BHATIA is a Chairman of Hilshaw Group, UAE, Thailand, Italy & Russia. Hilshaw Group is a Multi Family Office with an existing fund size of USD 500 million. The Group primarily invests its own funds in low supply and finite real estate opportunities and has allocated USD 175 Million towards UAE’s Real Estate Market.
Mr. Bhatia is also a Chairman of The Private Office His Highness Sheikh Marwan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum. The Private Office of His Highness Sheikh Marwan Bin Mohammed Bin Rashid Al Maktoum specialises in government relations, public affairs and strategic communications, and advisory services.

JYOTIKA KALRA-Member,NHRC

Ms. Jyotika Kalra joined as a Member, National Human Rights Commission in April 2017. Before joining Commission, she was a practicing Advocate and Advocate-on-record with the Hon’ble Supreme Court of India.
She has conducted many awareness and gender sensitization programs with schools, colleges, Universities, Govt. and non-Govt. organizations. She was a Member of many Sexual Harassment Committees and has dealt with many sexual harassment complaints. After being appointed as a Member of the National Human Rights Commission, she has been dealing with subjects like Women, Children, LGBTI, Trafficking, Reproductive rights etc. Under her leadership, many workshops have been conducted in the Commission as well as in different parts of the Country relating to POCSO, JJ Act, restorative justice, sexual harassment at workplace, gender equality and economic development etc.

REKHA RAIKAR-ICAS

Mrs. Rekha Raikar Kumar is an ICAS Officer of 1995 batch. She has joined as Member (Finance) Land Ports Authority of India, MHA wef 01st November, 2021. Before joining LPAI, she was serving as Jt. CGA, PFMS Division, O/o CGA, DoE, MoF, ND. She has experience of working with field offices of various Ministries like H&FW, CBIC, CBDT, Deptt. of Eco Affairs, DoE, Department of Atomic Energy, MoD, MoL&E and MSD&E. She holds M.Sc. (Elect) & Master in Financial Management (MFM) from Mumbai University and Degree of Master of Philosophy in Defense and Strategic Studies from University of Madras.

SHABRI NAIR-Labor Migration Specialist (South Asia), ILO

Mr. Shabari Nair recently took up the position of Labour Migration Specialist for South Asia, based in the ILO Decent Work Technical Support Team (DWT) in New Delhi. He provides technical advisory services to seven countries in the sub-region: Afghanistan, Bangladesh, India, Maldives, Nepal, Pakistan and Sri Lanka.
Before joining the DWT, he was leading ILO’s work on global migration policy including for the inter-governmental negotiations and adoption of the Global Compact for Migration and for the newly established UN Network on Migration with postings in both the ILO Headquarters in Geneva and at the ILO’s Office for the United Nations in New York. He was also focal point for Asia and the Middle East in the Labour Migration Branch.Prior to joining the ILO, Shabari worked with the Swiss Agency for Development and Cooperation (SDC), Federal Department of Foreign Affairs, Government of Switzerland. His last posting with SDC was as Regional Advisor on Migration and Development for South and South-East Asia and was based in Dhaka, Bangladesh. He managed programmes and projects in thirteen countries across Asia and represented Switzerland in regional inter-governmental dialogues on migration including the Colombo Process, Abu Dhabi Dialogue, Bali Process, ASEAN, and SAARC.

Dr. Satyajit Bhattacharya, Founder and CEO, Harlem Children's Society, USA

Dr. Satyajit Bhattacharya, a Doctor-Scientist in NYC, specializing as a Molecular Cancer Geneticist & Immunologist. A Fellow at the Oxford University, he holds positions at other Hospitals & Organizations. He serves as an Advisor to Leadership from Mayors, Senators & Congressmen, to Heads of States. In 2000, he created ‘Harlem Children Society’ – Hands-on Research-based Organization in NYC for Under-resourced/represented, Below-Poverty, Inner City, Urban & Rural Youth in STEM, creating pathways for a 21st Century Workforce, stimulating human capital development & social entrepreneurship. This unique venture is further aimed at encouraging, fostering & furthering a dialogue about different health, environmental & other pertinent issues concerning the masses.
Invited by Senators & Congressmen, and Heads-of States (Presidents of Mexico, Ethiopia, Tanzania, Kenya and President Macron of France), Dr. Bhattacharya has evolved the programs across 12 states in the U.S., and 25 countries worldwide – Kenya, Tanzania, Ethiopia, Algeria, Malaysia, Nepal, India, Mexico, Honduras, Colombia, Canada, New Zealand, India and others.
